Donor Jerry Brown says 30-35 pounds is typical for him, growing them in Kansas, where they mature in 100 to 110 days. Excellent texture and flavor. Sweet and juicy. This watermelon variety was donated to SSE by Jerry Brown of Kansas. Jerry obtained the variety in the early 1960s from Walter Funk who lived south of Atchison, KS. The watermelon was grown by Walter’s parents and grandparents, with their family stewardship dating back to the 1870s. Jerry continues to grow it today.
